What activities is eSellerateEngine.dll associated with and is it safe?

Please explain what activities this file is associated with  While seaching for this file on the web after not getting any information from the Microsoft web site, I read some rather alarming stuff about this type of file.......some of it was regarding Microsoft knowingly having malware, spyware, trojans and viruses included in their software.  Could this possibly be true?  I really hate to even consider the ramifications of that scenario.

While going thru a listing of my files, I did experience finding numerous files that I could not associate with my installed programs.  Why isn't the association listed under properties of the major program the files are used with???   I am not a computer geek and since being out of work on disability I do not have the same contact with my MIS team, therefore my level of understanding all the nuiances of utilities and composition of hierarcy of programs and files has diminished drastically.  So I have to depend on problem solvers such as this forum and so far that has been very frustrating and disheartning.  I have yet to receive a response from Microsoft on any questions I have posted.

What would you experts suggest I do when I have this sort of questions and concerns?

    Hi,

    1. What issue are you facing with eSellerateEngine.dll?
    2. Which version of Windows have you installed on your computer?

The ‘eSellerateEngine.dll’ is a part Windows system files, some virus\ malicious software may spoof as system files and might damage your computer.

Microsoft software’s are tested and are free from infections.

You can try the following methods for the file association issue.

    Method 1:

When you run an .exe file on a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7-based computer, the file may start a different program

    Method 2:
