Critical error in CCLeaner

Original Title: Catastrophic Jeopardy!! Help Please?!

My computer unit has the following specs:

Microsoft Windows XP SP3

Intel Pentium IV CPU 2.00 GHZ

256 RAM

Radeon 7000 / Radeon VE Family(Microsoft Corporation)

...Okay, I know that this computer specifications has already been left out by civilization, but hey this unit is still MUCH, MUCH useful!

There are three accounts on my computer.

So, just like any other ordinary day, I booted my computer up to use, however, upon logging on my account, I noticed that my skinned cursor was reverted back to the default skin. I wondered why but did not minded it. However, the next thing that happened really troubled me. The Avast! 6 Internet Security icon on the task bar appeared but there was a red "X" mark on it. Bothered, I clicked on it, and it displayed that my computer was unsecured. I clicked the FIX NOW button but the application lagged and crashed. I tried to open MS Word 2010, but then it did not respond! I tried it to other applications as well but the same thing happened! I was even more surprised when I clicked on My Computer, it opened up but the Hard Drive list did not appear! I can't open any application or anything that is supposed to open when I click it! However, I did noticed that the CCleaner application was the only one working. I tried to clean my system to see if it really is working but upon reaching 50%(or 47%) of the system scan, an message box appeared and told me that a critical error had occurred. It went like this:

"Critical Error:"

"The thread tried to access a page that was not present and the system was unable to load the page. For example, the exception might occur if a network connection was lost while running a program on a network."

" CCleaner 2.34.00

Microsoft Windows XP SP3

Intel Pentium IV CPU 2.00 GHZ

256 RAM

Radeon 7000 / Radeon VE Family(Microsoft Corporation)"

Then there was an option to restart the app or the OK button to close it.

I rebooted it, tried the second account, I was able to log on but after a few minutes, the unit suddenly restarted.

I tried the third account(which I just recently created) but it froze in the "APPLYING YOUR PERSONAL SETTINGS" phase.

These are the system maintenance utilities currently installed on my computer:

TuneUp Utilities 2011

Advanced System Optimizer 3

I tried accessing the system restore functions of those but it failed to open.

Recent Modifications that I have done are the following:

--- Cleaned my registry using Advanced System Optimizer

--- Defragged my Hard Drives using Advanced System Optimizer

--- Repaired the User Accounts Page Problem(User Accounts Page is BLANK) by registering

regsvr32 jscript.dll thus fixing it.

--- Scheduled a Disk Scan using Advanced System Optimizer which was to be done the next boot.

I allowed the scan to finish( which took 2 HOURS) to see if it will resolve the problem but nothing happened. And every time I boot it the scan will repeat itself.

Can some help me out? Links? Solutions? Steps?

I am really troubled because this unit of mine is really helpful and reliable.

Well, last night I did not stopped thinking of solutions(including yours) to fix my computer. I did a scan and no malwares were detected. I booted up a page wherein I selected the Last Known Configuration Settings(My Most Recent Settings that worked) but nothing happened. The system was stuck at the boot screen. I repeated the whole thing for about three times, until miraculously, it WORKED! The scheduled scan automatically stopped, Avast! was back in shape and all of my applications were fine again! I created a restore point to secure, formatted one of my drives and it's now fixed!

However, a new problem rose, at any time that I am using my unit, the mouse cursor freezes(only the mouse pointer) while others are working fine. I checked if the mouse hardware was damaged but it was perfectly fine. It happens every time I use my computer and noticed that a force reboot was the only solution and all of the files that I am currently working on was lost. I also noticed that I can't bring up Task Manager and the keyboard commands also froze. The keyboard hardware is perfectly fine.

Can you give an advice about this one instead? I'm really grateful that you took your time to answer my query.

    Thanks in ADVANCE!!

A little strange that formatting your extra drive solved the issue on your primary drive.

This is what I would try, Unplug the extra drive and see if Windows will boot normally, If that doesn't solve the issue perform a clean boot by following the instructions HERE. This is basically a process of elimination to see if you can determine whether or not it's a software or driver causing the issue.

On another note, you are really pushing the bare minimum with the amount of ram you have installed. While that may not be the entire problem, it certainly doesn't help.

Let's first make sure there isn't any malware on the computer. While you have made an excellent choice with Avast, like any anti-virus software it isn't conclusive. Reboot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. Download, install, update and perform a quick scan with Malwarebytes. If you need assistance using Malwarebytes click HERE. Post back with the results of the scan and we'll go from there.
