I have been given a Transcend Storejet 500gb external usb and when i install the operating software from their website i get an error message which reads "You must connect a transcend storage device in order to use Elite!". Now transcend Elite is the software. So my Dell laptop running on Windows 7 isn't recognising the device plugged in. I have checked thru device manager, it doesn't recognise it. I have tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting etc ...nothing seem sto work. It just doesn't recognise the device! Any ideas please?

    Hi Scott,

    1.       Do you receive any error message when you connect the external drive to the computer?

    2.       Do other USB drives get detected in the computer?

Let’s run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to automatically try and fix the problem

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

If the above step did not help then I suggest you to contact Transcend support regarding the issue.

You may contact them from the link provided below.

    Hi Madhusudanuppadhya,

Given that this thread is extremely old, I suggest that if you are having a similar problem you create a new thread for it by going here:

I hope this clarifies the situation of the issue more clearly.

You may already have a solution (i hope!). I had the same problem today. The solution was very simple: Format the USB drive in NTFS. Now i can access the USB drive (JF 530) with Transcend Elite.

    Kind regards
