How can I enable keyboard shortcuts on Windows 7?

For some reason, all of the default keyboard shortcuts in my computer stopped working. Usually, holding the Windows symbol key and pressing R would bring up the Run window. It's not working.

I cannot use any of the Fn key + F1 (lock computer), Fn + F6 (reduce screen brightness), Fn + F7 (increase screen brightness),  Windows symbol + Tab (see each of the opened windows in a dynamic way), etc...

How can I enable those again?

    Hello Aldo,

I have a couple of laptops with the same issue. <I forget their respective  makes and models.>

I have yet to find the Fn Lock key on their keysets, but have noted that I can achieve the desired behavior by pressing Fn + <the normal key combination.>

Let us know if this helps.

    Best regardsm

Thanks for your reply, but my laptop does not have that key you mentioned.

    I own a Toshiba Satellite L645-SP4011M, running Windows 7 64bit.

Hope this additional info helps to address my concern, thanks again.

You most likely have a keyboard where some keys have been dual purposed. Look for an F-Lock (e.g. Microsoft) or F-Mode (e.g. Logitech) key and tap it once to restore standard functionality to your keys. It is also commonly noted by an F in a square. The key works as a toggle just as your Caps Lock or Num Lock key does. Once for on, one again for off.

If you are having trouble locating the toggle key post back with the make and model of your aftermarket keyboard or laptop/computer and some additional assistance may be able to be offered.
