HI Marilyn
Thanks for your suggestion to remove MPEG-2 and then reinstall (Easy Media Creator) EMC 10.
Unfortunately I do not have the know how to remove the MPEG-2.
From MS Media player window, by clicking on Library then Options then Plug-ins, I get a list which includes …Video DSP, Audio DSP, and Other DSP.
When I go to Support Information for Windows Media Player I get a long list of components under headings:
1. Media player Binaries
2. Other Binaries
3. Audio Codecs
4. Video Codecs
5. MPEG/DVD filters
6. Plug-ins
7. Services
Under the heading of MPEG/DVD filters there are a number of items including:
· Video Roxio Smart Encoder
· Video Roxio Smart Decoder
· Video Roxio MPEG 2 Encoder
· Video Roxio MPEG 2 Decoder
I do not have the know how to remove the MPEG 2 and if required to restore the items.
Windows Media Player plays DVDs with MPEG 2 files when Roxio EMC 10 is uninstalled.
As soon as I install EMC 10, the Windows Media Player stops playing DVDs .
Roxio Cine Player opens by default but does not play DVDs.
When I installed EMC 10 three years ago it started straight away. It is beyond my comprehension as to why after about three years of running well, I am now asked to activate the codecs MPEG 2? And when I click OK, it says “bad installation”.” Do you wish to report the problem to Microsoft?” If I click OK a report is prepared and sent but nothing happens.
As a layman this is beyond me. Hopefully some one can help!
