How do I repair/replace/update ntoskrnl.exe driver?

For the past month and a half I have been suffering frequent blue screens. I have taken a number of steps to resolve the problem, or at least try; even gone so far as to do a completely fresh install after reformatting hard drives and still to no avail. I keep getting blue screens followed by the "bug check string" displaying: "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", "APC_INDEX_MISMATCH", and "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION". Initially I thought it was a video card issue, but I am beginning to think that is not the case. I downloaded a third party software that tracks blue screens and records their data and dump files. It identifies the Microsoft Windows Operating System driver "ntoskrnl.exe" as the source of the problem.

I have also tried entering into Command Prompt and running as administrator; entering CHKDSK /r /p and the system did not find anything amiss, even running it 3 or 4 times. I also tried letting windows scan my memory with my Windows 7 Ultimate x64bit boot CD and it did not find a problem.

I believe I found ways to repair it, but it all entails Windows XP, and when I look the steps it recommends for Windows XP are completely different or do not apply the same way to Windows 7. Please help me! This happens even when I am doing work my classes and I've lost everything multiple times.

    Hi,

Please describe when you see the blue screens in a little more detail. Like, how often do they appear etc. Also, please tell us the make and model of your computer.

It appears there are a number of reasons why this .exe file is causing these bluescreens. Since you have done a fresh install and are still seeing the error, I am thinking that this is hardware related. Is this a desktop? If so, please either remove the keyboard or switch it out with a different one and test the computer.

Often times, a short in the ground wire of the keyboard cable can cause these bluescreens errors.

I hope this helps. Please post back with results.

Thats the program I used to find out it was the ntoskrnl.exe driver. Unless you are suggesting there is something more I can do with the program?

If you used this utility http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html it has various options to identify the actual driver causing the issue
