Problem with VGA Graphic Adapter on Windows 7 64 Bit

I recently got a new computer  (Inspiron 580, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit OS) and want to attach a second monitor to it. The second graphics card is installed (Microsoft, Standard VGA Graphic Adapter, Version 6.1.7600.16385) but I am receiving error messages. The first was error code 10, so I used a troubleshooting program (Mats_Run.devices) from Microsoft. The device driver was reinstalled, computer was restarted, and now I have error message 38. I'm at a dead end... Any help is appreciated!

Buy a two head video card (two outputs).. a much more reliable way to run two screens and it works. Mixing and matching with onboard video is not good..

    Lots here..

    Hello Marrrk,

Due to the age of the original incident and the differences between issues, I would recommend creating a new thread for your specific issue.  This will ensure that your issue is the top priority of the thread that it is in and that the resolution we come to is t.

    Best regards,

My problem is similar to this, although I'm not trying to install an extra monitor. I've upgraded from W7 Home Premium to Ultimate and ever since, my VGA adapter isn't working anymore. Your fix doesn't work for me, unfortunately.

I've uninstalled the driver software and restarted my computer. When I log back on, however, my PC is already downloading driver software. Then, when it says it's done, I'm prompted to restart my computer again, so I do so, and when I log back on and go to the Device Manager, I get the code 38 again and it still doesn't work. And this happens every time, each time I run the troubleshooter and every time I try to fix it myself.

I can't seem to get it to uninstall and remain uninstalled until I can select "Scan for hardware changes" in the Device Manager, which is what the support articles I've read suggest.

    Do you have any suggestions?
