RE : The file shown in the screenshot - what is it ?

Is it the file used for system recovery ? If yes, I thought it was hidden in the Recovery partition.

Hi,

Yes its a folder that is created at installation of Vista or Windows 7. (Its name

will vary from system to system.)

boot.sdi = Windows Deployment System Image.

Winre.wim = Windows Image Format File.

Of course both are part of the Windows Recovery Environment.

Hope this helps.

    Rob,

In regards to your Google/Bing comment, I see such statements a lot when Googling about the interwebs; it just so happens to be three years after your post, and it just so happens that I have arrived to this solution via Google. It is these posts that populate search engines and assist people for years, perhaps eternally.

Thanks for the help! It was, and still is, appreciated.  =)

    Cheers,

    Drew

    Question remains....

What is it doing in C : drive ?

Shouldn't it be in the D drive , my recovery partition ?

My D: ( recovery ) drive is a hidden partition. But that should make no difference.

    Adding ..................

I opened the file and found 2 items.  Looks more and more like a recovery file.
