Original Title: How can I get the original solitaire back on my XP, I've tried the suggestions, don't work I do have 9 recovery disks

I just want a copy of the original solitaire card game that came with my XP.  It is completely gone from my computer.  I did not get a recovery disk.  However, I did copy the files loaded right after the purchase, there are 9 CD's with this recovery info.  I don't know how to locate the program.

How did you

copy the files loaded right after the purchase

The file you are looking for is sol.exe and it should be in C:\Windows\system32 and C:\Windows\system32\dllcache (because it's one of the files monitored by Windows File Protection).

If you have a C:\i386 folder, you can expand sol.exe from C:\i386\sol.ex_ using the EXPAND command in a command prompt window.

That is,

(Start > Run > cmd > OK)

expand C:\i386\sol.ex_ c:\windows\system32\dllcache\sol.exe

expand C:\i386\sol.ex_ c:\windows\system32\sol.exe

So what exactly caused it to be removed? Is it only solitaire or the entire games folder?

    1. Start Menu > Control Panel.
    2. Add or Remove Programs.
    3. Add/Remove Windows Components.
    4. Open Accessories and Utilities.
    5. Open Games and put a check mark on solitaire.
    6. It might ask for an XP installation CD to reinstall the program. Insert it if you have it.

This did not work since the file was nowhere on my hard drive.   The information that "LemP" provided did work.
