I am using a(see title) and it refuses to connect. I have had this mouse for about a year now, and it worked perfectly. There is no cause to this problem as far as i can see. The mouse is on, the blue light is showing, and the small light below the scroll wheel shows green. The only problem is that the usb connector is extremely hot, but i believe that that is normal. Please help, i don't wanna spend money on a new mouse when this one seems fine!

    Hi,

    1.     Which operating system are you using?

    2.     Are you able to use any other USB devices?

    3.     Did you try connecting it to different USB port?

    4.     What is the status of the mouse on device manager?

Step 1: Run the fix it tool from the following article and check.

Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windowshttp://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/

Step 2: Update the mouse drivers.

running a gateway comp, tried every usb port, even got it stuck in one, /:, every other device that requires usb is fine and device manager says that i have no mice connected.

Tried both your steps, doesn't need updating and the first link didn't help.

    Hi,

When you say it doesn't need updating, is that because you have actually already updated it?? The drivers are basically what allows the device to work with Windows. When something like this happens, that is always the first place to look.

Also, when you mention that the receiver is getting very hot is somewhat of a concern for me. Obviously I have no idea if it is "too" hot, but anytime we have malfunctioning hardware along with excessive heat, it is a giant red flag. Are you able to test the mouse on any other computers? At least that way we can rule out that the mouse itself is failing.
