When I try to upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro I receive this message "my current version of windows is higher then the version on the CD".

I am trying to upgrade from windows XP home to XP Professional.

When put in the CD and try to upgrade i get an message that my current version of windows is higher then the version on the CD. how do i complete my upgrade?

    So I think you should somewhere written "Includes Service pack 3" see the picture:

    At root of the CD Windows XP Professional with SP3 - I see the files:

    WIN51

    WIN51IP

    WIN51IP.SP2

    WIN51IP.SP3

    At root of the CD Windows XP Professional with SP2 only - I see the files:

    WIN51

    WIN51IP

    WIN51IP.SP2

    The disk that i bought from Tek-Micro has only  WIN51 and Win51IP.

    I called and told them they sent me the worng disk and they are sending me a new one.

    On my PC i have XP Home SP3

    The paper work for the CD says SP3.

    On the CD under I386/SVCPACK i see  files like Q306676, Q30xxxxx etc... and one file SP1

    On the "Here is the way how to upgrade to XP Professional:" i can not get pass step 1

    Hi,

    what SP do you have installed in Windows XP Home and what SP do you have written on installation CD of Windows XP Professional ?

    SP = Service Pack (the last SP for both XP is SP3)
