Win7 64bit won't recognize Canon imageCLASS MF4350d All-in-One Printer

I have installed drivers per instructions from Canon website, but i cannot get the printer to work with my new laptop.  The driver install seems fine (no errors) but when i plug in the USB cord from the printer, Windows does not find the new device.  When I go to Devices and Printers I can see the MF4320-4350 as an Unspecified device.  I am not sure what to do next.  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled.  USB port is not the problem as it recognizes all other kinds of USB devices.

Somehow I had this printer hooked up and working last week but I don't know what changed from the time I unhooked it Friday afternoon til I came back and plugged it in this morning.  Any ideas are appreciated.

    Hello DawnMitchell,

Let's try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer in a specific way:

    1. Detach the Printer from the PC.
    2. Uninstall the printer driver from the PC. <There may be a Special Uninstall utility from the manufacturer.>
    3. Re-install the Printer driver with the latest version from Brother's website.
    4. Reattach the printer.

Also, here are some printer references:

    Open the Printer troubleshooter

    Find and install printer drivers

    Best regards,
