My graphics card is the stock ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Series that came with the laptop. I had it working fine in Vista Ultimate. But no dice here

    Hi Jared,

It seems that the Graphic card is not supported in Windows 7. You may refer to the following AMD support article for further information.

    AMD Catalystâ„¢ Display Driver

You may try installing the Windows Vista drivers in compatibility mode or upgrade to a Windows 7 supported Graphic card.

    AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

For further information, you may refer to the following article:

Make older programs run in this version of Windows

    Hope this information is helpful.

There is another way to do this Praseetha, Go to the Dell driver site, download there version of the driver. (step 1) extract the exe file but do not install it. (step 2) navigate to control panel and go to Device Manager. (step 3) you will notice it does not show a video adapter of any sort, however down near the bottom you will notice it says unknown device,(step 4)click on it and go to update driver software.(step 5) click-->Let Me Pick From A List Of Drivers On My Computer

from there it will give you the option of have disk.(step 6) Click on Have Disk and then click Browse. (step 7) Locate your Local Disk (C:)--> Open it, from there or somewhere in your Local disk you will see a folder that is labeled Dell. (step 8) open folder name Dell next open folder name R153383 then open folder name Drivers and then open the next folder labeled R153383then last but not least open folder name Packages. (step 9) click on the folder Labeled Drivers go through that folder until you see a Text file labeled CL_45540 (step 10) click on that Text file and then find in the following list the name of your Video card and then click the next button. from there all that is left is to wait and then restart your computer.

I will give the link to the file here in this Tutorial to the downloaded driver.

    http://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R153383.exe

good luck and I hope this helps
