My antivirus scans has shown 62 logs located in the "C:/system32/winevt/Logs" folder that cannot be scanned and weren't there in previous scans until recently. I have tried to delete them using "Event Viewer" but it does not delete any of them. Is it safe to delete them and if so how?

    Hi,

Thanks but as I have previously stated in my question, I have used Event Viewer and followed does exact steps several times. Event Viewer did not delete any of the logs in "C:/system32/winevt/Logs". When I click on any of those logs, it opens up Event Viewer with the message "One or more logs in the query have errors".

I had recently found 63 files in the folder c:/Windows/System32/Winev/Logs that my antivirus shows as unable to scan. I have tried using Event Viewer to delete them but they are still there. When I try to open them windows Event Viewer tells me that they are corrupt and with errors. Is there a way to delete or clear them?

    Hi,

It’s safe to delete logs in event viewer if it’s not required for you.

Try the steps in the following link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc722318.aspx

Hi, thanks for your reply but I have tried using Disk Clean up and I have scanned my computer in Safe Mode many times. The problem is not my anti virus. its the corrupt logs in that folder. They cannot be scanned by my antivirus software and cannot be deleted or cleared using Event Viewer. When I try to open any of them I get a message saying they are corrupt and have errors. I want to know if there is any other way to delete or clear those corrupt logs?

    Hello James,

Yes I have, my anti virus software comes with malware removal included not to mention I have ran several scans with Windows Defender which I always update as well. I have also scanned my computer with my antivirus software company's website computer scanner. I have not had any virus or maleware for quite a while. The files that are in my "C:/system32/winevt/Logs" are corrupt logs with errors. I have tried using Windows Event Viewer but was not able to clear or remove those logs. Is there any way to safely clear, delete or remove corrupted logs in that folder?
