A print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing

Using Windows 7, new ASUS pc, bad left speaker. Installed HP C4385 printer, worked fine. PC had problem, moved everything to new (2nd) ASUS pc using Restore? Have Seagate Home 2TB Network Hard Drive. Printer was showing on network for first pc. Had to reinstall printer on 2nd pc. When the installation program tells me to plug the USB cable for the printer into the pc, I do and HP installer program appears to start. Then Windows appears to decide to install the Windows driver for the pc. May have conflict between the HP and Windows priter driver. Everytime I try to print it does nothing until I go to the troubleshooter. It runs, it prints, and I get the "A print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing" message. How do I fix this permanently?

I tried making changes in the way the printer works, turned off spooling, went to direct print, no luck. One person said to turn off the bidirectional communication. Do not want to do that. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software twice. No improvement. Also tried other things. Help, please!

BEKgh,

Not sure about HP Printers. A couple of things to try.

Run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Uninstall the printer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Install the printer. You should get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time powered on)

Virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

Hit the Windows key and the R keys at the same time. Type

services.msc

hit enter. Look for print spooler and make sure it's set for automatic. Restart the service. There may also be something else there related to your HP printer. Make sure it's on automatic and restart the service.

Have the exact same problem. Bought a new ASUS G73JW computer winth Windows 7 and tried printing with an older Epson printer. Kept getting the error message that "a print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing". Spent 3 hours with Epson, no help. Spent an hour with ASUS and they said it was either the operating system or a compatibility problem. I bought a new HP Photosmart D110 series printer with high hopes but have same exact problem. Have done everything one could think of except for the suggestions made in this forum. Want to know if anything worked for you before I try. Funny thing, bought a cheap $42 Lexmart X4650 and it works perfectly in my home office.Go figure. Is this an ASUS problem or a  Windows 7 problem?

I have the exact same laptop (ASUS G73JW) and a Brother HL-2240.  I've dealt with Brother for a couple hours installing and uninstalling the printer etc....

This printer works with no hassle on my fiance's Macbook Pro.

The only way I can print is when I run the Windows 7 printer troubleshooting.  It says the problem is due to "

A print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing Fixed <br> --- ---
When a print job is caught in the print queue, newly submitted printing jobs can't be completed properly." <br><br> <br><br>Please help, I've deleted the items in queue and have had no luck yet.  <br><br> <br><br>Thanks.

    Hi Jay,

I would suggest you to try the steps mentioned below.

**Method 1:**Stop the print spooler and delete all spooled files. By doing this, you should be able to print.

    a)   Click on Windows Vista/Windows 7 Start orb and type Command in start menu search field.

    b)   From the list select and right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. (This will give you an elevated command prompt).

    c)    Type “**net stop spooler”**into command prompt window without the quotes and then press Enter.

You should get a confirmation that the print spooler is stopping.

    d)   Then type “del %systemroot%\System32\spool\prtiners\ /Q”* without the quotes then press Enter.

    e)   Then type **“net start spooler”**without the quotes and then press Enter.

    f)    Type exit and press Enter to exit the elevated command window.

The print queue of your printer should now be cleared.

Try printing. Verify if this resolves the issue.

Method 2: Test the issue in a clean boot state

Note: Once the troubleshooting is over, reset the computer to start as usual.

Hope this information is helpful and let me know if you need any further assistance.

I am having the same problem.  ASUS laptop running Windows 7, Canon MG6150 printer. Same error message. I type in "net stop spooler" into command prompt and get "System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied".  Your help would be much appreciated......
