Original title:I have an Acer Aspireone D255E Windows 7 Starter.  when I am trying to play a video in Windows media Player, I get the video good but no sound.

When trying to play a video from the card reader using Windows Media Player, I get the picture but no sound. tried same on my other computer and it works fine. Other sound programs are working, ie Skype. It is an Acer aspire one D255E. I have imported the same video to PMB (Sony software) and it plays fine from there on this same laptop, the Aspire. Want to be able to play it without importing.

    Hi,

    1.       Do you get sound in Windows Media Player if you try to play audio songs or MP3?

    2.       Is the issue confined to particular video files?

    3.       What is the format of the file you are trying to play in Windows Media Player?

    Method 1:

Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter

    Method 2:

    Hi,

I would suggest reinstalling Windows Media player (Win 7 comes with WMP12 installed), try this:

How to reinstall Windows Media Player

    1. Type appwiz.cpl in Start menu search box and hit enter to launch Program and Features window.

    2. In the left pane, click Turn Windows features on or off option to see Windows Features window.

    3. Here expand Media Feature list and then uncheck Windows Media Player box. If you are prompted with “this will also turn of Windows Media Center” message simply click Yes as you will reinstall it later.

    5. You will be asked to Reboot your PC to uninstall WMP. Hit Restart now button to do so.

    6. As you need to reinstall Windows Media Player, you need to install WMP again. Once again, open Windows Features window, tick the Windows Media Player & Windows Media Center Media Center boxes and then click Ok button to begin installing the WMP & WMC again.

These are videos created on my Sony Digital Camera, HX9V, shot in HD.

Tried the Codec update and it would only install on older versions of Windows. I am using Windows 7 and Media Player 10.

    Will appreciate your further comment

    Thanks for the reply and here is the info you were enquiring about;

1.Yes , windows Media Player works for music off the playlist.

    2. I also tried a video taken with a different camera and it worked. (movie clip.MPG)

3.The file type that does not seem to work is AVCHD video (.MTS) and (.M2ts).

I tried the Windows Media Player troubleshooter and it said to reset settings to original, which I did (sele3cted that option)with no effect on results.

Incidentally, I am running on Windows 7 Starter, if that makes a difference.

Your further input will be appreciated.
