how to open *.max files

I have a folder of scanned documents(scansoft) on my hard drive with .max files.   Yhe scanner is long gone, but when I click on these saved files, they do not open?  what software do I need to open these?

    Hi gd1234,

    I would suggest you to look for any third party application which supports .max files using your favorite search engine.

    You may also follow these steps:

    a)    Right click on the file.

    b)    Select the option “open with”, choose program.

    c)    Select the last option “If the program you want is not on the list or on the computer, look for the appropriate program on the web.”

    Note: Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using Third Party Software is at your own risk.
