Minimized windows disappear instead of appearing on the taskbar

If there's a solution in the FAQ's, etc., I just can't find it. I just upgraded to Windows 7 Pro. When I minimize open windows, they disappear instead of appearing as icons on the taskbar. The only way to view them is to push Windows/Tab. This wasn't a problem with Home Premium.

Click on blank area of TaskBar & select Properties. Against Task Bar Buttons option, make sure that 'Never combine' is selected.

Thanks, but I already checked that.

I also ran the Aero Troubleshooters in case it was related to that.

Update: I started in Safe Mode and the minimize-to-taskbar worked perfectly. On a hunch, I deleted AVE's Thumbnail Sizer, which was a remnant of the previous Vista system, and rebooted. That solved the problem.

Alright, I had this happening to me and the ANSWER given previously did nothing for me... I should mention that I am running Windows 7 but that makes no difference to my solution...

I went to Kelly's Korner and downloaded the 240 fix for xp, hoping it would work with 7 also, but it didn't.

Turns out RocketDock and Object Dock both have "Minimize to Dock" feature as default...

Simply go into the properties and uncheck the box and you should be good to go. If that doesn't fix it for you, I'm not sure what's up, but it sure did for me
