Hi

I hope I have posted this in the right place as I couldn't find a heading covering Services.

I am using a Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium and would like to know what the default setting is for the MS iSCSI Initiator Service.

I also wonder why I would need this service to be running on my computer.

    Hello,

The Microsoft iSCSI(Internet Small Computer System Interface) default setting in services is Manual.

It is a Internet Protocol (IP)-based storage networking standard for linking data storage facilities. By carrying SCSI commands over IP networks, iSCSI is used to facilitate data transfers over intranets and to manage storage over long distances. iSCSI can be used to transmit data over local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), or the Internet and can enable location-independent data storage and retrieval.

Manages Internet SCSI (iSCSI) sessions from this computer to remote iSCSI target devices. If this service is stopped, this computer will not be able to login or access iSCSI targets. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

    Hope that helps.
