UniBlue and Microsoft...?

Hello. I purchased UniBlue RegistryBooster, and have yet to experience problems...However, reading some of the Q/A on forums related to the SW, I sent an email

to UniBlue to have them confirming their relationship with Microsoft. The answer was as follows, and I wonder if you agree with them:-)?

Thank you for contacting us for assistance. This is Victoria B from Uniblue Customer Support team. You can verify Uniblue's Microsoft Gold Partner status on the following Microsoft website:

https://solutionfinder.microsoft.com/Partners/PartnerDetailsView.aspx?partnerid=a6fc7830fc1f485b85eac3905162ca2e

Check reviews on RegistryBooster:http://www.uniblue.com/software/registrybooster/reviews/

What is Microsoft's official view on UniBlue RegistryBooster, and since I have installed it, should I continue using it or do something else...?

Thanks,

G

Hi G,

It is true that there are negative entries over the web on Uniblue. However keep in mind that our product frequently has over 2 million downloads per week. We aim to please, we offer a 60 day money back guarantee on our product which should reassure you. As you can tell from these numbers, facts, our awards and our affiliation with Microsoft, customer satisfaction is of primary importance to us. Here is some further reading about Registry Cleaning which you might find useful http://www.liutilities.com/articles/do-i-need-to-fix-windows-registry/ .

Should you require any further info, feel free to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Keith, Uniblue Customer Relations

The Answers forum is a peer-to-peer type forum of users of Microsoft products so I doubt if you'll be able to get Microsoft's official position or view on UniBlue.

With that said, I highly discourge the use of any type of registry cleaner or optimizer, whether free or a commercial product. I'm not saying they'll cause problems in every case, but a program that blindly removes entries from the registry based on a predifined set of rules (without knowing the system's actual configuration) will eventually cause issues, in my opinion. As to removing unused orphaned registry keys to increase performance, I once read it was the equivalent to cleaning a dozen or so parking spaces in a parking lot the size of Montana!

You're welcome and thank you for taking the time to post back.

Again, I'm not saying these type of programs always cause problems, but IMO they are very risky to use. I've seen way too many posts from users in this forum and other newsgroups where they have caused problems and even make a system un-bootable. I'd recommend to be very cautious and prior to using one, backup the registry so you are able to undo any changes that may be made.

Good luck and happy computing ; )

OK, thanks Uniblue. I guess time will prove who is right on this... I'll probably get back on a couple of months time to give an objective view based on my experience :-).
