I read that Adobe is not supporting anything on Windows 7 other than Acrobat 9.  If I have a licensed copy of Acrobat 7 and now have a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit am I screwed and have to buy a new version or do I have other options  The program will not load the Printer driver when loading my Acrobat & onto my new system.

Even if you could load version 7, you don't want to. Adobe products are attacked more that Windows itself these days. Acrobat 7 is way insecure. The current is version 9, and they just updated that yesterday because the previous version 9.2.0 had severe vulnerabilities.

Get the current version Acrobat 9.3.0.

I absolutely agree Richard Urban.  The idea of planned obsolescence obviously isn't a myth, the concept is alive and well right now.  Unless I'm mistaken, I never read anywhere on the Adobe product I purchased nor the MS product I purchased explaining that there was a relatively short life span of the product's useability.  Like an idot I purchase alot of music from MS back when they were selling it online.  None of it works now.  I know a different issue, same concept.

I don't have the money to just "buy a new one".  And why should I have to?  I'm sure the new one doesn't do anything more, to speak of, than the old one.  This really makes me angry.  You guys (computer geeks) are always updating stuff with useless little extra things that nobody needs, and then the old version doesn't work any more.  That's an absolutely ridiculous answer you gave, Mr. Microsoft.  Let's use the same logic with, say, my car:  "I'm sorry, we no longer make the tires that fit on your car, so since you have a flat tire, you'll just have to buy a new car.  Problem solved."

    Leo and Gary

Why don't you go whine somewhere else. Do you think just because you refuse to keep up with the times, and upgrade like most of us do, the wheel of progress should stop?! Stop being cheap and get the latest software. I bet you two don't let your kids to be vaccinated either!

There are various freeware options that can replace various parts of Adobe Acrobat, such as PDF X-Change Viewer for viewing/editing and Bullzip or doPDF for creating pdf files. You can continue to use Adobe Acrobat 7 in Windows 7, although the pdf printer will not install. You might have the best success using Adobe Acrobat 7 if you do the following:

    1. Install it using Compatibility Mode for Windows XP (forgo installing features and subfeatures you don't need).
    2. Activate DEP system-wide (OptOut setting)
    3. Set your default viewer and browser plugins to a product that is still supported, such as Adobe Reader 9 (see step 6 below)
    4. Disable Acrobat Javascript & viewing in browser in Acrobat 7.
    5. Update Acrobat to 7.1.4 or higher
    6. Install an alternative viewer with shell integration (PDF X-Change Viewer or Adobe Reader 9) and make it the default afterinstalling or repairing Acrobat 7.1.4+
