Microsoft Paint - Image is normal on screen but prints too small?

When I am in paint all my settings are the same as I always use and my image appears of normal size on the screen however when I go to print I have it scaled to fit on 1 x 1 page (so it's all on one peice of paper) but then I print preview and the image is only a 1 inch image in the top left hand corner. I had done this many times in the past and never had an issue. Why is it skrinking the image? Also when I take off the scaling down to 1x1 page it then tiles the image across 4 pages. So if the image is that large why is it shrinking it to much when I make it only one peice of paper?? HELP!

Go to the Paint options by clicking the upper left icon on the menu bar (the one to the left of  "Home"  that looks like a sheet of lined paper w/ an arrow beside it).  Choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu.  Key in your paper measurements (ie. 8.5 x 11 or 8.5 x14) according to the orientation you have chosen - Portait or Landscape (under Print option:  Page setup)  This should solve your printing problem.  Unfortunately, the program seems to resort back to some preset default each time you open the Paint program.  That is how I came across your question;  I am trying to find how to change the default setting. Meanwhile, I guess we just have to continue to change it prior to printing.

Microsoft Paint - Image is normal on screen but prints too small?

I have the same issue but a little more information.

I have done the following for years:

Scrn prnt; then paste into PAINT, then save as JPG, or BMP, or other format.

Then I open the JPG and it now opens with Windows photo viewer.

I used to get a FULL WINDOW IMAGE.

NOW I get only a post stamp image in the upper left corner. If I then click on the "ACTUAL SIZE" icon it then shows in a large screen view but I have to drag back for the upper left to view it ( just a pain and it did not do this before.)

And it will still print the small postage stamp size picture Vs the full screen print we used to get.

I save a lot of screen prints this way to record various computer setting or issues and it used to work just perfect.

Now all I get is these postage size view.

AND I CANNOT PRINT FULL SIZE, EXACTLY AS THE FIRST PERSON REPORTS.

To the best of my knowledge I have not changed setting and I think it got changed thru one on many "updates".

Any help would be apprreciated. I would love to get it back to the way it used to work, especially for printing things.

PS I would attach a sample of each if I could or knew how - available if it would help

I had the same frustrating problem. The size was correct on screen, but it would print too small.

My paper measurements were already set in Properties (as described by serendipity1920), but I found the solution I needed! This worked for me:

Go to Print --> Print preview.

Then within Print Preview, click Page setup.

Under Scaling, select Adjust to: 100% normal size. (Mine had been set at Fit to: 1 by 1 page(s).)

I don't see any icon left of home The upper left has a paint pallet icon a save icon and arrows nothing that looks like lined paper with an arrow next to it.

I have been sent a JPEG file of a scanned item I would like to print in a size I can read. I had to reset Windows to open it in Paint as the default program was useless. In Paint I can at least see it but when I go to print it is too small to read. I don't see any way to control the size of the image that gets printed.

    History information:

The last know good full size picture was on July 25, 2011.

The earliest occurance of the "postage stamp size" effect was about the 1st of September 2011.
