USB audio adapter not working

Somewhat frustrated that I have not been able to resolve a problem with my USB audio adapter for my headset and my USB webcam microphone.

Neither will work, and in both cases the Windows 7 Ultimate says no driver found. These work in all my other machines with the same software, so it is clearly a glitch with mine.

Recognition should be automatic with no additional software. Files for the webcam (on another machine where it works) are \system32\drivers: drmk.sys, P1370Afx.sys, P1370Aud.sys, P1370Aul.sys, portcls.sys, USBAUDIO,sys and \system32: SysFxUi.dll and WMALFXGFXDSP.dll.

All these files are where where they should be on my machine. I've cleaned registry, done full Malware scans, run SFC /scannow six times (and checked to see if this did actually repair files). All to no avail.

There is no .inf for either of these devices as they are designed to use the Windows 7 files.

    SOLVED!!!

After hours of trial and error with no success, I spent time going through the registry. I found a spot that led me to the c:\windows\inf folder. I noticed that there was no wdma_usb.inf file there, so I did a recovery of this file from an old backup and SUCCESS...the generic usb audio now works.

Delete all USB hubs and re boot, let W7 re install them, then re install your Usb drivers for each device.

Failing that do a W7 repair install, especially if you suspect corrupt system files.

All the drivers are there. The problem is that the computer does not recognize any USB Audio device. There is something wrong with the "usbaudio.sys and related files" system in that it will not run what it should. Clearly, there is corruption somewhere (all works fine on my other WIn7 machines), but I have not been able to "reset" what is wrong, and am not going to do a clean install for this one problem. What I cannot do not is use any USB webcam mics, but I can use headsets that plug directly into the phone jacks on the front panel or the rear inputs. Bothersome, but not fatal.

Have you installed audio drivers for your machine ? Note they are not the same thing as drivers for your usb device .

Go to your PC/Laptop maker's websie, locate the support page for your unit and then download and install the W7 specific drivers.

If you need help, re post giving machine make, name an full model number.

    Cheers,

    jerry

I should note that the video portion of the webcam/mic (Logitech/Creative LiveCam Pro) is fully recognized. Just the audio does not work, and shows up in Device Manager as "unknown device".

The USB headset adapter shows up in Device Manager as "C-Media USB Headphone Set", but will not load any drivers and will not let me assign anything to it that will cause it to be recognized and work properly.
