Hi!

I just wondered whether there was a way to play F.E.A.R on Windows 7. I just installed it (it's original) and it won't work. Everytime I start it i get this error message.

It turns to Windows Basic then after a few seconds it turns back and nothing happens.

It's not the hardware i played it on this configuration before on xp no problems there.

I got Windows 7 Home Basic.

Please help!

Thanks in advance!

Peace,

itmustbereggae

Have you tried running in compatibility mode for Vista or XP? Running as admin?

The game runs PERFECTLY on 7 w/ 64bit. NO ISSUES. 2.67 gigs aint enough, however. 3.42 minimum if you dont want issues. ALSO. . . for those of you who not familiar with STEAMtm, the PC version REQUIRES that you download the game through that protocol. Yes, its a pain in the but, as I have high speed broaband and it still took 4 hrs. . .(11 gigs for fear 2). . .but as I mentioned in another forum. . . IT IS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. Go do something else or let it download overnight. Once you follow the installation instructions (INCLUDING SUCCESSFULLY PROVIDING YOUR LICENSE KEY TO STEAM) and click steam in programs, click on the game icon fear 2 attached to that tab and download window appears. Make sure to click the highest download rate in the steam settings. Now go watch a movie.Or something. The download window will say ready to play when its all done, SEVERAL HOURS LATER. At first I was kinda frusterated, but if you think about it, its a brilliant way to avoid illigal copying and piracy. I TOTALLY SUPPORT THIS, BECAUSE IF THE PROGRAMMERS DONT GET PAID, WHY THE **** WOULD THEY CONTINUE MAKING GREAT GAMES? FEAR 2 ROCKS!

I got the same result when I tried to auto install using autorun. I went into setup for each game (F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. XP) and installed them manually. I also run them from the exe file and not the autorun that loads when you insert the disc. With Win 7 64 bit it is working fine now. Hope that helps, PGA_
