What is "snapin launcher"? I had a window open and ask if I wanted to run it? This was after right clicking computer, then choosing "manage" option.

The snapin launcher should open the Computer Management folder, which contains access to System Tools, Storage (Disk Management) and Services and Applications. It is commonly targetted by malware so if it does not open properly you need to run scans.

Boot the computer to safe mode with networking and download and install Malwarebytes (freeware version for home users only), update definitions and run in safe mode. Disable other security software whilst you are doing scans.

Download and run SuperAntiSpyware (Free Edition)

    Hi,

    1.      Were there any changes made to your computer before the issue occurred?

Snapin launcher is a process wherein the relevant executable file is triggered. For example, to open the Command prompt window we just click on Command Prompt under Start/All Programs/Accessories but in the background the snapin process triggers cmd.exe application and this in turn opens the Command prompt window.

I would suggest you to follow few troubleshooting steps from the articles below and check if that help you in fixing the issue on your computer.

    Method:

You can try to run SFC scan to find missing or corrupt files that may be causing this issue.

System File Checker (SFC) checks that all Windows 7 system files are intact and not corrupted, changed, or damaged.

    a.       Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.

    b.      Click Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.

    c.       In the Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:

    sfc /scannow

    d.      You should see the following on-screen message:

Beginning the system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.

    Verification % complete.

    e.       Once the scan has completed, test to see whether the issue that you are experiencing is resolved or not.
