If the cards are sold as win7 64bit compatible, but for some reason cannot be installed on your system, that might tend to indicate your system/motherboard has a problem.
Are there any yellow warnings in Device Manager?

I want to add a PCI card with external USB 2(or 3) ports and hopefully fire-wire.I've tried two different cards and my PC does not find drivers for either, anyplace. The manufacturer's web site state their cards are plug and play with 7 64 bit --- THEY LIE!
If anyone can recommend a brand/card that will be supported by 7 64 bit, Please, please tell me what it is.
Thanks in advance.

Are there any yellow warnings in Device Manager?
No, I haven't updated drivers from gigabyte. It is a brand new board in a brand new PC that I was told very specifically would have all the most current drivers, etc already installed.
That being said, I guess I should check anyway - everyone tells lies - I guess.
I would also contact cyberpower and see what they say, after all its new & both pci cards are win7 compatible, and as such you shouldnt be having these problems
A WD drive doesnt use drivers other than the built in default win7 drivers
If you are seeing yellow warning marks in Device Manager you have a problem, whether your external is working or not.
Have you updated the chipset drivers from gigabyte site?
I have a couple of yellow warnings for an external Western Digital drive that I am able to use without any issue. I've checked and I have the most current (and working) drivers for this.
When I purchased my new PC (from Cyberpower) I asked about adding a USB port PCI card and they did not indicate any potential problems. If it helps, I have a Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 motherboard; 8GB memory; Intel i7-2600K 3.4HHZ CPU
