How do I change the function keys on my keyboard so I don't have to press the Fn key everytime? Right now I have it set at the alternative functions such as volume and brightness but can't change back.

This depends on PC maker's utilities but you don't say what type of PC you have.

For Dells & possibly others, go to

1 Control panel, Windows mobility center - There may be an item called Function key row with a dropdown list.  You should find it set to Multimedia keys & can select Function keys instead.  The settigs will revert to their default when you restart the PC.

2 Reboot into the BIOS & look for the Multimedia key item.  Changing this to Function keys instead will change the default behaviour.

If your PC does not provide for these changes then you'll have to go to the PC maker's support site to find out how to do it.

On Dell laptops running Windows 10, press Fn + Esc to toggle between default and multimedia settings of function key.

On a Lenovo with Win 10.

You can goto Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers. Choose your PC under devices. Then a Lenovo screen pops up. Under Hardware settings, select keyboard settings. Now you get a pop up with keyboard settings. Select Lenovo F1-F12 keys tab. Select legacy setting. Voila!

    I used this on a Yoga 15.

You might have to install some of the Lenovo settings applications. I have them installed. They are helpful.

On Surface Pro 3 you can switch by pressing Fn+Caps.

Toshiba and other manufacturers have tools to switch behavior without going through BIOS.
