The scroll bar moves on its own. Has anybody heard of this or experienced this? it is driving me crazy.

Original Title:  Jumpy screen, scroll bars by itself

when I have any application up that has a scrollable bar on the side, the contents within the scrollable window moves up and down by itself. The scroll bar moves on its own.

Has anybody heard of this or experienced this? it is driving me crazy.

Hi cakers10,

• Does this happen only on a particular application or with all the applications?

• Since when are you facing this issue?

• Did you make any recent changes to the computer?

You may first try to check the mouse settings by going to Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options -> Uncheck the "Enhance Pointer Precision" and check if it resolves the issue.

Step 2: You may also try to update the drivers for mouse by following the steps:

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. In Device Manager, locate the device you want to update, and then double-click the device name.

3. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver and follow the instructions.

    As of Sept 13th 2016, came across this issue over the last few weeks, changed keyboard, disabled mouse etc, found out this, Using a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse, simply unplugged the wireless/bluetooth USB connector for both mouse and keyboard, plugged back in again and the issue was resolved.

    Windows 10

    Intel i5 chip

    Asus Mobo

    Logitech  Wireless Keyboard

    Tecknet Wireless mouse.

    No more scrolling or keyboard glitches.

    Hi, I am facing a similar problem.

    Recently, my computer crashed because the power plug got disconnected while windows was installing updates at the time of shut down.

    I reinstalled windows xp by formatting my system.

    After this event, scrollbar in every application seems to move erratically up and down. Be it microsoft office or internet explorer or google chrome !

    This problem is recurring even after I changed both my mouse and keyboard and reinstalled drivers.

    Please help as to how to solve this problem.

    it was caused by the Bluetooth mouse usb connector. it resolved the problem by disconnecting from the usb and re-plugging back.

    Just updated to Windows 10 and while using Windows Explorer, the Scroll Bar jumps back to the top after a few seconds.
