I had a similar problem. Suddenly, paperport14 would launch and then suddenly shut down. I found the cause was pdf forms that were fillable, e.g., blank tax forms that could be filled out. Once I deleted these pdf files (printed them to pdf to flatten) there was no problem.
PaperPort 14 professional
PaperPort 14 Professional installed alright on my Windows 7 ultimate after a lot of problems caused by previous versions of the programs. It did work a few times and now it returns a Windows "stopped working error". I followed the advice given by Nuance and found that DEP is not the cause. Now I am at a loss. can someone help please.

Hi,
I have not heard of Windows 7 issues which would could be the cause of this issue and though
possible it is likely not the case.
Check with your antivirus/antispyware/security programs' support as they may be interferring.
This is not a sure bet however it needs to be checked.
Nuance Paperport Support is the main source so please contact them.
Nuance - PaperPort Support
http://www.nuance.com/support/paperport/index.htm
Also check with your Scanner Maker's support, drivers, and in their forus (if any).
Hope this helps.

2012-10-23T14:01:33+00:00 This was the solution to my problem. I recalled that my problems with PaperPort 14 not opening began as I was working with fillable 2011 tax forms prior to the Oct. 15, 2012 extension deadline. As soon as I moved those files to a folder not being managed by PaperPort 14 it began opening and working fine. Thanks to gln54 for his post.

2012-02-10T20:18:46+00:00 Hello,
I just had a vexing time with installing Paperport 14 on Windows 7 64 bit. The installation seemed to go fine, and all of the apps that install with Paperport worked fine, but Paperport would not launch. Paperport would not open when I clicked the icon.
I tried Compatibility changes, I tried reinstalling, I tried turning off UAC. None of it helped. I finally got on the phone with Nuance.
They had me browse to the prerequisites folder on the installation CD and manually run each of the 32 bit and 64 bit prerequisite files. The ones that caused my problem were:
msxml6_x64
msxml6_x86
vcredist_x64
vcredist_x86
Once I manually installed each of those, I was able to launch Paperport 14 normally on Windows 7.
I spent about an hour and a half jerking around with this software, and found no help on Google search or the Nuance website, so I'm posting this in the hopes that the next poor sap can save some time and misery.
