games running in safe mode

Im running 64 bit windows 7 and Im trying to use a couple older Win XP games, but for whatever reason they're (and they alone) are being run in safe mode by 7. I have DX 9 installed, drivers are up to date, its just these two games running in safe mode nothing else and this pc is a rig I built last fall so it should be smoking them so I know its not doing this as a lack of performance.  Any ideas why its safemoding them and how to unsafe mode them? I'll settle for just getting them out of safe mode if no one has any ideas why its doing it.

    Hi,

It sounds like you are in XP compatibility mode, which is fine.

Make older programs run in this version of Windows (Windows 7)http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

Have you tried right-clicking on the shortcut to the program, or the .exe, and selecting the "Run As Administrator" option? Do so even if your user is an Admin. Try right-clicking on the actual Setup.exe and selecting the "Run As Administrator" option? Do so even if your user is an Admin.

    Windows Virtual PC

    Download Windows XP Mode

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

Windows XP Mode (Windows 7 only, but not any of the Home versions) "You are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode". If you have an old XP CD (or other older Windows CD) available you can just download the Virtual Machine and skip the XP Mode download. This covers the whole gambit of virtual machines in "Home" versions if you want to have a look at it. Of course you will need a licensed copy of XP to install and run in any of them (except XP Mode).

    Hope the information is helpful.

    1. Well its Neverwinter Nights and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
    2. Cant find NWN in the compatibility list but Vamp: Bloodlines is listed as noncompat. but run it does though with graphical.. incongruities.. and would like to eliminate the safe mode as one possible source.
    3. Installed Vamp first and while working on it I generated a window listing my programs, Vamp was listed in it and beside its name was (safe mode). Also when doing start menu search for safe mode it and NWN were listed with (safe mode) beside them, though apparently I've done something thats caused NWN to no longer be listed with that. But the games main executable icon has one of those shields on it still even though its not being set to any compatble mode or being run as an Admin.
    4. Well like I said their apparently being run in some sort of safe mode according the information windows is showing me, plus they're the only one's with the shield on their icons without any compat. or run as an admin settings.
    5. Normal mode, always normal.

Will try uninstalling and then reinstalling using the compatibility mode set on the installation executables.

    Hi,

    1.       Which games are you playing in safe mode?

    2.       Is the games compatible with Windows 7 operating system?

    3.       How exactly you know if the games are being played in safe mode or not?

    4.       What exactly you mean by “games running the safe mode”?

    5.       Are you booting the computer in safe mode or normal mode?

To check if the game is compatible with Windows 7, refer the following link:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

If the game is not compatible with Windows 7, then I would suggest you to try to install the game in Windows XP compatibility mode and check if it helps you to play the game in normal mode.

Make older programs run in this version of Windows:

    Hope the information is helpful.
