I have this come up when I open iTunes. I have searched for answers, checked the driver, checked that the speakers are enabled. Nothing has helped.

    Hi MelissaJB,

    1)   Was it working fine before?

    2)   Do you recall making any changes to the computer prior to this issue?

    3)   Is this issue confined only to ITunes?

    4)   Do you have sound on your computer?

**Method 1:**Run the fixit available in the link below and check if that makes any difference

Diagnose and repair sound playback problems automatically

"ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"

For me, this error appears simply because it detects that I do not have speakers or headphones plugged in.

Had same problem on Windows7 Ultimate 64 Bit, turned there was a problem with Windows Audio Services, go to run-> type Services.msc and restart Audio Service and that solved the problem for me too
