Have you downloaded the newest drivers from Brother?

Check the printer manufacturers support website and look for Windows 7 drivers that you can download and install. Download the drivers for your printer model and the correct bit level for your computer - 32 or 64 bit - and then install them.

    Brother DCP-195C drivers:

    http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/eu/eu_ot/en/dlf/download_top.html?reg=eu&c=eu_ot&lang=en&prod=dcp195c_all

To see if you have Windows 7 32 or 64 bit:

    1. Click the Start button, right click Computer, and then click Properties.
    2. Under System you can view the system type - it will say 32 or 64 bit.

Install the drivers before connecting the printer to your computer. Install a printer:

    Try the Printer Troubleshooter

    1. Click the Start button, then click Control Panel
    2. In the search box, type troubleshooter
    3. Then click Troubleshooting
    4. Under Hardware and Sound, click "Use a printer"
