IF SFC fails to repair the files it means it doesnt have copies to replace them with. Usually the only way to repair them is to do a repair install, or better yet a clean install. You will never find and fix every corrupt file and wont know which are fixed and which arent.

2012-05-08T06:45:18+00:00 im going to awnser some questions from the first post as well as those from the second. first post-1. there are no error messages when i boot the computer. 2. no abnormal changes occured at the time this started happening, on april 18, 2012. i do have a loose power jack which falls out alot causing unexpected shutdowns. 3. this issue is not causing any real problems i can be sure of but im trying to track down performance issues with ie and slowness. so this data if needed will not be available in event viewer.
questions from the latest post- 1. performance issues are ie stops responding, computer slow loading, fan seems to run alot even when cpu shows low activity. ie uses 45% cpu sometimes. 2. im not on a domain that i know of but i did have my son listed in the router but his computer no longer works and so is not accessing the router. but how do i check and see if i set up a domain? 3. system restore no longer has any points that go back to april 18, 2012 so i can't use system restore. i have a recovery partition is there a way to solve event 22 by replacing files from the recovery partition? or as sugested in my post can i use some sort of trace configuration utility?

2012-05-08T01:18:51+00:00 Hi,
- Do you find any performance issue on the computer apart from the errors in the Event viewer?
- Are you on a domain network?
- Have you performed System Restore among the suggestions that provided?
I would suggest you to perform System Restore if you do not have done this before. The files and folders will not be harmed or altered with a system restore. The Event ID 22 error in Event viewer ideally occurs when the computer is connected on a domain network.

Im just getting back to this problem, I hope your still available.
I ran system file checker. It reported that there were files that could not be repaired but when I looked at the cbs.log there were no corrupted files or files that it could not repair. This seems to be contradictory.can you explain.
Can you explain what you mean by "The Event Id 22 error message is the Hexadecimal data format of the error message generated. This is the popular error message format utilized by Windows and other Microsoft Windows compatible programs and device driver manufacturers." I dont understand what this information is directing me to do.
The event online help recomends the followin advice.
Event ID 22 — Publishing
0 out of 1 rated this helpful - Rate this topic
Updated: December 6, 2007
Applies To: Windows Server 2008

When an event log is initialized and ready to receive events, all event providers that declared their intent to publish events into the log are enabled to do so. When the Event Log service cannot enable a provider, that provider will not be able to send events into the log. When this happens, the diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities of administrators, support personnel, developers, and automated utilities could be compromised.
Event Details
Product: Windows Operating System ID: 22 Source: Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog Version: 6.0 Symbolic Name: INIT_CHANNEL_PUBLISHING Message: The event logging service encountered an error while initializing publishing resources for channel %2. If channel type is Analytic or Debug, then this could mean there was an error initializing logging resources as well. Resolve Revert trace utility settings
In most cases, the publishing settings are not configured by the administrator using either the Event Viewer or the command-line utility wevtutil. The settings can be configured using trace configuration utilities. If any trace configuration utilities were recently used, the administrator must revert the settings. Otherwise, contact technical support for the publisher.
Verify
Use the Event Viewer to read the System log on the local computer after the computer has been restarted. Verify that events 22 or 30 do not appear in the System log after the computer was restarted
In your response there was no explanation for trace settings if they are responsible and how do I check them with either Event Viewer, wevtutil, or some other "trace configuration utility" as is mentioned above.?
I went back to the day event 22 started in the Reliability Moniter and nothing unusual happened. Is there any way I can restore these files using the methods above and avoiding a system restore?

2012-05-01T14:02:53+00:00 Hi,
- Do you get any error message when you boot the computer?
- Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
- What is the exact issue that is causing? Are you facing issue like opening programs or accessing data?
The Event Id 22 error message is the Hexadecimal data format of the error message generated. This is the popular error message format utilized by Windows and other Microsoft Windows compatible programs and device driver manufacturers.
There are lots of situations that can trigger file errors. An incomplete install, an incomplete file deletion, incorrect erasure of software or components. It can also be brought about when a machine has caught a a virus or adware infection or through an incorrect shutdown of the laptop or computer. Any one of the above events can result in the removal or corruption of Windows system data files. A damaged system file will result in absent and incorrectly connected documents and records essential for the correct operation of the software.
I would suggest you to perform the steps provided below to see system is intact.
Method 1:
Perform an SFC scan on your computer. Refer to the following link:
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
Method 2:
Perform System Restore to an earlier point before getting this error message.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-is-System-Restore
System Restore can return your system files to a point in time before you noticed a problem, without affecting documents, photos, or other personal files. If System Restore doesn't fix the problem, you can undo the restore operation and choose another restore point.
Additional information on:
System Restore: frequently asked questions
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/System-Restore-frequently-asked-questions
Method 3:
Run a virus scan on your computer.
www.microsoft.com/security/scanner
Note: If any infections are detected during the scan, there might be a chance of data loss as the infected files will be deleted.
Check if the issue still persists.
Hope this helps.
