Where can I find WDDM 2.0 in Windows 7 and windows 8. Actually, I am not very clear about WDDM2.0 and WDDM2.1. Do they any have realtionship with DX10 and DX10.1? I read from some materials where they said WDDM2.0 is included in DX10, WDDM2.1 is included in DX10.1.

Thank you very much for help!!

    Thanks lead3.

Because DirectX in Windows can be upgrade from one old version to a newer version. But WDDM can't be changed in specific OS. So there is no direct relationship between DX and WDDM. Above I posted "WDDM2.0 is included in DX10, WDDM2.1 is included in DX10.1" is wrong information. Am I right?

    Thanks again!!

WDDM is the graphic driver architecture for video card drivers in Windows systems.

If Microsoft designs their operating system to use a particular architecture,

the graphics card manufactures design their drivers to comply with that architecture.

It is not something to install. So far WDDM 1.2 is the latest model Microsoft is using with the Inroduction of Windows 8. Windows 7 supports WDDM 1.1.

    Hi Lead3,

Thank you very much for you help.

Yeah. I have looked through the page you posted above carefully. The page state "Windows 7 supports major additions to WDDM known as WDDM 1.1". "Windows 8 includes WDDM 1.2 and DXGI 1.2". "WDDM 2.0 and 2.1, announced at WinHEC 2006".

It seems WDDM 2.0 and WDDM 2.1 was planning since 2006. But the newest WDDM version in Windows 8 is WDDM1.2. Is it possible to install WDDM 2.0 or WDDM 2.1 in my Windows 7 or Windows 8 platfrom? How? Many thanks for your help!

Anybody have other ideas on WDDM?

WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model) is  what your graphics card driver is based on.

    See this.
