There's a free program online called "SageThumbs" (link below) that adds PSD thumbnail handler for PSD files even if you don't have Photoshop.

I have always been able to view a thumbnail of .PSD (Photoshop) files in Windows. Recently, I installed a new version of the program. Now, I am unable to view the files. All I see is the .PSD icon. Is this something I can change with Windows?

Ok, but we don't want to open Photoshop, we only want to view the file quiclky with Windows image explorer (Macintosh offer this feature for many years, we want it on windows !).
Thanks,
Julien
I want to preview PSD files directly from the windows explorer, I don't want to launch photoshop. I would like to preview the file even if photoshop is not installed on my computer.
I use Windows 7 64bits (and the windows 8 preversion).
Hello JulienFOUCHER,
Are you also using a newer version of Photoshop as the original poster?
Do you get an error message when trying to view a file?
Have you checked the Photoshop forums?
They may be able to help with your issue since it is a Adobe product.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
Right-click on the PSD file and select Open With. If Photoshop is not in the list, click the Browse button open the folder with PhotoShop and find the main Photoshop executable.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\ and highlight Photoshop.exe
Click Open. Put the check in the ox that says: Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
I hope that helps
