external DVD driver missing or corrupted.

I got a Transcend DVD RW external device connected by USB, model TS8XDVDRW-K.  Installs fine under Windows 7 but problem with XP, says the driver is missing or corrupted.  I already tried deleting the hardware from the control panel, then plugging it back in.  It sees that there is new hardware and searches for a while, then ends up again with the driver missing or corrupted (missing, I think, not corrupted).  Any ideas how to fix?

    Hi CARLKOCH,

Let’s follow these methods & check if the issue persists:

    Method 1

You may download & install the latest CDD/DVD drivers from the manufacturer’s website:

    http://www.transcend-info.com/Support/DLCenter/index.asp

    Method 2

You may follow this link & check if the issue reoccurs:

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

    Hope the information helps.
