Java recommend removal of older versions...

...and so do I, I have had to clean up many PCs infected by malware that got there because of Java vulnerabilities only apparent in older versions.

When taking Java updates, unless you know really need it, I do not recommend taking the Ask Toolbar (or any other software) at the same time.

Nowadays, Java updates automatically remove (at least) the previous version.

    Removal instructions...

I would say that Java part could use some cleaning up, wouldn't you?

But, I like to keep things neat and tidy.

Do you not know that Java 6 is currently at update 31?

When you looked at your system, what Java do you have installed?

    Hi,

The programs that you have listed should not be removed from the computer, as most of the applications and programs that are installed on your computer might be dependent on these installed packages.

Hence, it is wisely advised not to remove or delete any of these listed programs. If these packages are removed or deleted this will cause odd effects on the installed programs and it also causes stability issues with your Windows operating system.

    Hope this information helps you.

Leave all the .Net Frameworks (those you probably do need), fix the Java by uninstalling ALL of it (using the directions) and reinstall the latest version.

I am shocked and amazed the the Microsoft Sr. Technical Support Officer who is engaged by Microsoft does not see this.
