Microsoft Intellipoint 8.2 software

I just purchased a HP Pavilion with Windows 7 software.  Microsoft Intellipoint 8.2 software was loaded onto my machine during PC setup.  I am unable to switch the primary and secondary keys using the original mouse that came with the PC.  The entire "mouse properties" buttons tab options are protected and I am unable to switch "primary" and "secondary" configuration on the "buttons" tab which is what I normally do when using a computer.  Also,  screen gives the message that "no device is detected".  The solution given is to install a version of the Microsoft Intellipoint software prior to version 8, however, when I go to the Microsoft download and drivers website the only version offered for Windows 7 is the Intellipoint 8.2 version.  Is there a previous version available for download that will work with my Windows 7 -64 bit  operating system?

If  Microsoft Intellipoint 8.2 software was loaded during setup just uninstall the Microsoft Intellipoint software using "Uninstall a program" and then you should be able to switch the mouse buttons.

Microsoft Intellipoint software is not needed for basic mouse functions and does not appear to work with non-Microsoft mice.
