Canon PowerShot A470 7.1MP Digital Camera driver

My Canon PowerShot A470 works on Windows XP when I plug it in to the USB port but it does not work on Windows 7. Windows 7 says "Device driver software not installed...the MTP USB device failed"  My updates are current. Canon site has not specific device drivers for Windows 7 or XP for that matter

    Do you have a card reader on your computer?

    You can remove the memory card from your camera and insert it into a card reader to access your pictures. Check the camera manual for how to remove the memory card. More:
