I went onto the computer to use music files in my music folder. All was well. At the end of what I was doing I closed the window like normal and hibernated the computer. About half hour later I went back onto the computer and when I went to open the folder it was no longer there and I have searched and searched for it and simply can't find where the folder has disappeared to.

    Hi,

Have you moved the folder to a different location?

You may follow the suggestions and then check.

    Method 1

    Let’s try this first:

    **a)**Click Start.

**b)**In the search box type shell:My Music and press ENTER.

    Method 2

    You may follow the steps.

**Important:**This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the windows help article below.

    Back up the registry

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-the-registry

a.Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

b.Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

c.Check that you’re My Music listing has %USERPROFILE%\Music, as their location under the Data column.

d.If not, right-click on the folder name and click Modify.

e.Type in the default location as listed above, click OK.

    f.Exit the Registry Editor

g.Restart your computer and check if the folders have been restored. If so move your previous files into the corresponding folders, or you may choose to redirect the folders into your alternative partition (see link from previous method).

    Method 3

Restore the computer settings to a date and time when it was working fine earlier.
