my documents on start menu

I do not know if this is the way it is supposed to be, but on my system when I point to "documents" on the start menu I then have to point to "my documents" to actually get to the documents.  I am using the menu option for displaying documents.  Is there not a way I can avoid the redundancy and just have "my documents" on the start menu instead of "documents" and then "my documents" as a submenu?

I do appreciate your effort in providing an option.  I guess I am not being clear.  It is hard without being able to illustrate visually.  I could do what you say here, though I think the same could be accomplished by making the existing "Document" entry on the start menu a link.  What I am wanting is to drop the extra step on the start menu and keep a cascading menu.  I will illustrate the way my start menu looks the best I can below:

                                                                       Folder

                                                                       Folder

    Start Menu>Documents>My Documents> Folder

                                                                       Folder

                                                                       Folder

                                                                       Folder . . .

I want to eliminate >My Documents above because it is a wasted intermediate step.

When you click Documents from the Start menu, it opens a Windows Explorer window pointing to the Documents folder with its contents in the right pane.  From there you can put a shortcut to this folder on your desktop.  To do that point at the Documents folder in the left pane with the mouse, hold down the right mouse button and drag it to an empty spot on the desktop.  Release the right mouse button and click "Create Shortcuts here".  That will put a shortcut on your desktop that you can double click and go straight to the folder.  I've gone a step further and set my mouse wheel to do a double-click, so I can just point at the shortcut, press the wheel, and bang I'm in the Documents folder.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

Mine  is set to My Documents but the problem is the Start Menu has:

Documents which I click on (this I set to a menu rather than a link) and then it shows My documents and then I clikc on that and can see all my folders I might want to select.

Mine goes right to My Documents folder.

Right-Click on the Documents link in the Start Menu, choose Properties and tell us what location is set as the default. (The one with the check mark next to it)

Thanks.  I couild do what you say but often my desktop is covered with other apps so I would like to just be able to get to the documents directly on my start menu.
