How do I use split screen on my Dell laptop with Windows 7?

I want to be able to use a word document and an online document side-by-side on my laptop, a Dell Inspiron. How do I do this?

    Resize and reposition the two Windows to have them where you want
    them.

    To resize a window, put the cursor at a corner and drag to make it
    bigger or smaller. To move a window, click and drag the window's
    header line.
