The RPC message occurred while trying to synchronize the clock. How do I make the RPC Server available?

    Hi,

Have you made any software or hardware changes on your computer prior to this issue?

Let’s follow these methods & check if it helps:

    Method 1

You may try to start the RPC locater service on your computer. To do so, follow these steps:

    i. Type ‘services.msc’ in the Start, Run box & press Enter.

ii. In services window, locate RPC locater**** service in the services list.

iii. Under service status, right click on RPC locater service and select Start.

iv. Close the services window. Restart the computer.

For more information, refer to this link: To start, stop, pause, resume, or restart a service

    Method 2

You may run System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which will replace the missing or corrupt files & check if the issue persists.

    a. Type ‘cmd’ in Start, Run box. Right click on cmd in the Program list and then select the option Run as Administrator.

    b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER on the keyboard:

    sfc /scannow

For more information, refer to this link:

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

    Hope the information helps.

I am sorry, I never saw the last question.

In fact everything worked hunky-dory for a long time, but now "the RPC server is unavailable" message occurs again.

But it isn't! It is started, but for some reason the clock isn't getting it.

    Any ideas?

Thank you. I had eventually found another way to access services, but yours is simpler and I will remember it for future reference. I use the sfc method with the installation disk when the PC has crashed - usually after negotiating round some website whose pages take a lot of loading owing to numerous adverts from different sources. I really need a more modern, higher powered PC! For now, I often use the "mobile" version of sites to avoid the ads.

    WhatHo!!

I see Dableena S is already a 'community star'.  I agree whole heartedly.

Recently went through the System Services, 'switching off' all of the processes that I considered wasting my processing capacity.  Oh ohhhh!  Bad decision if you don't know what you'er doing (and I obviously didn't).  So, restart the RPC service (now I also know it means 'Remote Procedure Call' and it's partner the RPC locator) and it's smooth sailing again.

Know that old expression, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", well that's why!!

    Thank you Dableena Super star!!!
