How do I install Windows XP updates offline?

Hello!

I know the answer to this question is somewhere on this forum, but the search function is just returning questions about BSODs and printers being offline. I apologize if this question has been covered elsewhere.

I have a laptop that cannot be connected to the Internet or any network for that matter for security reasons. How do I install updates manually from a CD? I've already read the MSDN article on using the wsusscn2.cab file but the code example provided just scans the system for updates. How would I go about installing them?

Again, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I just can't find the post.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Bill

Security updates are available on ISO-9660 CD image files from the Microsoft Download Center

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913086

You can also download individual updates from the Catalog and save to be installed later.

    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want, Click the “Go To Download Basket” link. Type in or browse to the location where you want the updates saved to and then Click the “Download Now” button.

Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

Does latest version  "Windows-KB913086-201409.iso" contain all fixes for Windows XP?

No.  "This DVD5 ISO image file contains the security updates for Windows released on Windows Update on September 9, 2014."  Microsoft stopped issuing updates for Windows XP on April 8, 2014, so there will be NO updates for Windows XP in that ISO file.  That ISO file is for:

Windows 7, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 for Itanium-based Systems, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 x64 Edition, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista 64-bit Editions Service Pack 1, Windows Vista Service Pack 1
