I still don't think it's a particularly useful piece of information to know, but for what it's worth --

the retail Windows XP Professional SP2 installation CD is 579 MB.  I don't have a retail XP Pro installation CD with SP3.

I have an XP Pro SP3 installation CD that was created by slipstreaming the SP3 update with a retail XP Pro SP2 CD, and the size of this CD is 662 MB.  I don't recall whether I also slipstreamed any post-SP3 updates into this CD.

I also have a non-retail (Volume License Key) XP Pro SP3 CD.  This one is 612 MB.

All of the above are English-language versions.

    Hi,

The size of Windows XP Professional SP3 English disk is approximately 544.9MB.

    Reference:

Windows XP Service Pack 3 - ISO-9660 CD Image File

    Hope this information helps you.

    Thanks for your replay.

I don't have that CD, and my question is relevant because one of a relative of my asked me that question. And also my question is to satisfy my curiosity.

Why do you need to know this answer?

If you intend to copy a Windows XP Pro sp3 installation CD to some other medium, then you already have the CD and can inspect it yourself.

If you don't have the CD, the question is not relevant because you can't get one (well, I suppose you could buy something from Amazon or eBay, but who knows what you actually would get).

The answer supplied by the Support Engineer is the size of the ISO file used to generate a CD of just Service Pack 3 for Windows XP (Home, Professional, or Media Center).  You can't use this file (or a CD created with it) to install Windows XP.  You use this file to create a CD to update an existing installation of Windows XP to service pack 3.
