Diamond Multimedia ATI Radeon 9250 PCI 256MB Graphics Card dual monitor support

I just purchased one of these since it was a)cheap and 2) on the win7 compatibility list.  I downloaded the s9250pci256.zip

driver from Diamond.  I cannot get windows 7 x64 to load the video driver.  It always says its driver is the most current and

correct one.

Will this video card support two monitors under Windows 7 x64?  If so, how exactly do you set it up?

Thanks!

The Radeon 9250 video card will not support multi-screen Hydra because AMD (owner of Ati) does not offer  Windows 7 drivers.  They have not made Windows Vista or 7 drivers and only offers Windows XP 32 bit drivers.

You probably will only get the limited drivers that Windows 7 is offering.

You seem to be going about this wrong.  Do not look for a video card that handle 2 monitors.  Look for a video card that has "active" Windows 7 driver support.   Most newer and actively supported video cards, will more than likely handle two monitors.  The current available video cards usually will support two monitors providing there is more than one monitor ports.

Please note that monitor ports now can be any of the follow combinations:

    -- VGA  (oldest connection)

    -- DVI

    -- HDMI

    -- 'mini' HDMI

    -- Displayport.

Thanks for the reply.  I need to go find a card that will handle 2 monitors under Win7 X64.

    1. No other issues with card. Both the X1050 and S9250 work individually with the system.
    2. Because the information on the Win7 Compatibility List says to load that driver, and shows how to do it.

The Diamond link you provide has NO X64 drivers for the 9250.  It has 32-bit drivers, which are exactly what I tried to load IAW the Win7 CL instructions.  Windows refuses to change the driver.

Hydra will NOT operate because there are NO ATI drivers available.  Windows refuses to load the ATI driver.

The guided help did no work, either, for the same reasons.

All I want to do is have two monitors to work as one in extended mode under WIn7 X64.  I want a turn key solution that just works.  I have the original MSI X1050 board as well.  I inserted it and the S9250 in this system, booted up under WinXP, loaded a driver, rebooted and I had the two monitors in extended mode.  Why can't this happen in Win7?  I don't mind a two video board solution if I cannot use the DVI output on one of these boards for monitor 2.

    Hi,

    1. Are you facing any other issues with the graphic card?
    2. Why are you trying to re-install the graphic card driver?

You will need the HydraVision Multi-monitor Management Software for the dual monitor set up to work.

You can check the specification which talks about the same at the link:

    http://www.diamondmm.com/S9250PCI256.php

You can download the same from the following link:
