Canon PIXMA MP280 All-in-One Printer/windows7 wont recognize the scanner

I have the Canon mp280 multi function printer/scanner and I can print but when I try to scan I get an error message that says cable may be unpluged,can not access scanner.I uninstalled all canon references and re-installed.shut down and restarted my pc,changed plug in from hub to straight usb plugin (win7 pro) and still nothing.I even tried going through windows"fax and scan" program which says it is accessing "WIA Canon MP 280 ser.) This is driving me crazy.The test win fax and scan does says scanner is working but I cant scan.nothing happens except the error message.Please some knight in shining armor help me. Thank you

    Hi Mkdieb,

    1. Was the scanner working fine earlier?
    2. Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

    I would suggest you to uninstall the drivers completely from the computer. Then download and install the drivers from the following link:

    I have exactly the same issue in Windows 7 Pro and nothing seems to help. The Menu/and scanner drivers do not install properly, neither from the CD nor from the cannon website. The scanner never worked on this (new) computer. When troubleshouting compatibility it gives "application not compatible". Processor turns and turns. Although I am really happy with the printing quality, I cannot keep this printer.
