SAPI5 voices in Windows 7 64bit

Hello,

I'm looking to find out if there are any SAPI5 compatible voices available for Windows 7 x64. There was a thread previously about this subject where a suggestion was made to use a hidden control panel to enable 32bit voices on 64bit Windows 7 and they are available and even test properly in the control panel however when I use the "speak" command in a script it fails to read and the script fails. Only Anna seems to work properly.

That thread was started in 2009 so I'm hoping there have been some changes and there are other voices that work with the x64 version of windows now. Anything on this subject would be helpful.

Thanks.

    Hi,

If you have installed any 3 party programs and that program is not working, then you may need to contact the manufacturer for better assistance.

    Hi,

Beginning with Windows Vista and Windows 7, Microsoft Anna is the default and only English voice. It is a SAPI (Speech Application Programming Interface) 5-only voice. However TTS (Text to Speech) engines compatible with SAPI 5 version voices are available from third parties. You can use your favorite search engine to browse for one such.

You may refer the link for more help and check.

Add TTS Voice To Windows 7 and Set AS Default

Unfortunately, the "work around" listed here and several other places doesnt seem to work. When using microsoft speech it fails to read the text and errors out. The error i'm getting is either "the voice cannot be payed" or "speakflags: (null) 0x0000000010".

Are there any voices other than Anna that work when simply installed or has Microsoft limited the ability to use this feature with their standard voice only?
