I too have been suffering from this exact problem. I have tried everything I could find on the net, including these instructions, but nothing will work to get windows.iso installed without the MSI error. help?
VMWare - Guest ISO fails to mount on Virtual Machine
Win 7
vmware workstation 8
.iso files fail to install when updating vmware-tools with new versions
fails for all type of guests linux & xp
vwmare suggest this is an MSI installer failure
was hoping to find some error logs somewhere if anyone can advise where to look
none anywhere obvious from vmwares side...
its not urgent as I have worked around the problem with vmware
but learning more & for future updates, it would be good to solve the problem
very computer literate but new at solving win system problems
