I have recenly installed Google Drive as a storage facility for photos. However when attempting to sync the Drive folder to Photo Gallery I get the following error message: "You can't add this location to the Gallery. This folder or one of its parents is considered a system folder or marked as hidden. Its recommended that you move your pictures to the Pictures folder". Obviously doing this will prevent the use of Google Drive.

My OS is Vista

wl photo gallery will not sync with google drive,

Google drive more likely will sync with your original folder/ folders in your My pictures library or what or where the folders are located on your computer that you uploaded to google drive.

wlpg reads these same locations on your computer so it, (wlpg) will possibly pickup on the changes if any are made,

So all you can do is check the location of the folders you uploaded to g-drive and see if the folders are updating/ sync with g-drive.

Then go to wlpg and use F5 and possibly wlpg will refresh the page and reflect the changes/ additional files.

    Okay,

Click the start button on the taskbar, and click on your User name listed near the top,

    Open the My Pictures folder,

Are you saying this folder is empty.

If yes Right click it and select Restore previous version.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

However,  I'm not actualy sure what it is you're asking me to do. I got a little lost  after line 2. The Hidden atribute box was unchecked.

My original intention when installing G-Drive was simply to use it as storage; I don't want to make the photo files public.  However I did want to maintain the functionality of WPG to be able to view, edit, tag files etc.

    Thanks

Right click the g-drive folder and select Properties,

If the Hidden attribute box is checked uncheck it,

If the g-drive folder has a Location section,

Click on Move and Navigate to the My Pictures folder, click on Move.

    Take screen shots,

Usually you can hold down the Shift key (could also be the Alt key) or (FN key on a laptop) and press the prtscrn key,

Then open microsoft Paint, and click on the Paste button on the top left.

Paint is located in the Accessories folder in All programs from the start button,

Then click on the blue file button and click on Save as, click on jpeg file type and name the file.

Upload it to skydrive or photobucket in a public album and post a direct link to the file here.

    Hi Dissed,

Thanks for the response, but problem still persists.

Prior to installing Drive my photos were located in the Pictures folder in a subfolder called My Photos. WIPG worked fine. After installing Drive the Pictures folder was moved into the Drive folder as a subfolder. The upload to Google Drive worked ok and all photos are safely stored.

I therefore redirected WIPG to use the new Drive folder for viewing and editing but this it won't do and hence the error message about Drive being a sytem folder.

Any further thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks
